“IF YOU CAN’T OPERATE IN HEELS, YOU CAN’T OPERATE.”
What you will read about and see here is all true. This is not fiction. This is as close as you can get inside the operating room during open heart surgery without actually being on the table. This is a story of dedication, talent, training, caring, resilience, guts… and love.
Mostly, it’s the story of Kristine Guleserian, MD, Surgical Director of Pediatric Cardiac Transplantation at Children’s Medical Center Dallas — one of the country’s most respected pediatric heart surgeons, and one of fewer than a dozen women in the field.
Dr. G, as she’s known, takes it personally. Her patients are not just names on charts, or types of diseases. She is involved with them. She cares about them. Every so often, she even arranges for one to throw out the first pitch at a World Series game.
Read the blog, check out the pages, come back often as we prepare for the launch of our book, SURGEON’S STORY, coming in 2016.
